How the timer works

While a timer runs, the remaining time appears in the browser tab title, so you can leave the page in the background and still see it in your tab bar. When it reaches zero the tone you chose plays until you stop it.

Choosing a length

Short timers keep you honest about small tasks. Longer ones protect a block of attention. As a rough guide: one to three minutes for anything physical and repetitive, five to fifteen for a focused push at a small task, twenty to thirty for study or deep work, forty-five to sixty for a full working session.

Yes. It works from the finishing moment rather than counting ticks, so throttling does not slow it down.
