What Remembrance Day is

Marks the armistice that ended the fighting of the First World War at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918.

Two minutes of silence are kept across the Commonwealth, and the poppy comes from a poem written at Ypres in 1915.
